Where can i buy craft kits for a child's birthday party?

Question: Where can i buy craft kits for a child's birthday party?

(Posted by: AliCat on 2006-07-24 08:10:49)

My daughter's 12th birthday is coming up, and she wants to do a craft. I've spent days looking online for group craft kits and can't seem to have any luck. The items I'm finding withtin my price range seem cheap or boring. I need a kit that will make at least 8 to 10 of whatever it is, not just one or two. They've already done photo frame craft kits and jewelry craft kits at other birthday parties, so I want something different and fun, a little challenging, something with variety, so they can personalize and individualize it with their own colors and ideas, but nothing outrageously expensive. I've already dumped a bunch of money into the goodie bags, now that she's older and doesn't like the cheap stupid carnival stuff anymore! HELP! Thank you all for your great suggestions! I can't pick just one best answer, so I'll let you all decide! I, too, have been using Oriental Trading for years, but my daughter doesn't seem interested in any of those crafts anymore. I think she's getting too old. I did like the decoupage idea, though, but she didn't go for it. Maybe it's just a difficult age! I hadn't thought about Michaels, though; I'm going to check that out, and Making Friends web site, too. Thanks again, everyone!

GO TO A CRAFT STORE AND BUY STUFF FOR MAKING CANDLES. THE CANDLE WAX IS NOT TAHT EXPENSIVE ADN YOU CAN MAKE THEM IN BABY FOOD JARS. THEY LAYER THE COLORS AND IT MAKES THEM PERSONAL FOR THEM. WE DO THIS FOR OUR VACATION BIBLE SCOOL KIDS AND THEY LOVE IT. OR YOU CAN DO THE SAME TYPE THING WITH SAND AND THERE ARE ABOUT A DOZEN DIFFERENT TYPES OF SHAPES YOU CAN DO THE SAND IN. WE DID CROSS NECKLACES FOR VBS AND THEY WERE A BIG HIT WITH THE KIDS AS WELL.

1. Have them bring photos or if you have a digital camera you can take photos of them at the party, print them out and let them make some scrapbook pages. 2. Decoupage..... You'll need patterned tissue paper, glass jars (great ones at thrift stores), white glue, tea light candles & sponge brushes. Brush white glue on glass, tear up pcs. of tissue paper and stick to glue, continue until the entire outside of glass is covered. Brush another coat of glue on top of the adhered tissue paper. When dry a tea light candle can be placed inside for an awesome mosaic glow! Some other theme ideas are: 1. Baking party 2. Fondue party 3. Spa/ makeup party Oh... where to buy it.... WalMart or a craft store.

I agree with the Oriental Trading Company. They're a great place to get little craft projects and also party favors and decorations! I've purchased many things from them and have been pleased as punch! orientaltrading.com/ They're also a good source for scrapbooking supplies if you'd like to do mini scrapbooks with the girls! I think this might be a popular activity with this age group too! You could also make paper bag scrapbooks with the girls. It's cheap and a guaranteed hit. You can also make mini-albums out of Altoid tins or little boxes. Here's a link on how to do paper bag scrapbooks. scrapbooking.about.com/ library/ weekly/ blpaperbagscrapbooks.htm Email me if you want more scrapbooking ideas. rhubarb3142@yahoo.com

Oriental Trading Company has a ton of stuff. They send you everything, and you buy it in lots so you will definately have enough for everyone. If it's all girls, they can decorate flip-flops. Girls love a new pair of shoes..especailly ones they created themselves. Very cheap for you, and lots of fun for them. 12 is a great age for this project. Michaels.com has great crafty project ideas. They offer a lot of wonderful things to do at a very low price. Enjoy!

Have the girls bring two picture of something or - a picture of themselves and you provide pics of the b-day girl. Buy some stock paper, and some inexpensive scrapbooking stuff. It's all the rage and you can get enough stuff for 10 girls for about 15 bucks!!!!!

I am another Oriental Trading fan. I get things there for my Red Hat group. Other ideas? Have each child bring an article of clothing (jeans or a plain t-shirt) for them to decorate. All you would need is fabric paint, gems, Fabric glue, glitter, buttons, beads--anything they might want to glitz them up. There are also some GREAT ideas on the Making Friends Site. Check out the teen crafts. Crafting is such a fun thing for kids and grown up kids alike! What a great Mom you must be! makingfriends.com/
