They are really neat looking, kind of like cookies.

There are loads of different kinds of ornaments that can be made from air-dry clays which are grain-based or paper-based. The grain-based ones are usually "salt dough " clay or "bread clay ": google.com/ search?q= how+ to+ make+ salt+ dough google.com/ search?q= how+ to+ make+ bread+ clay You can also buy air dry clays of various kinds and use those, or buy polymer clays. All those clays can have colors mixed into them (and some can be purchased pre-colored) or they can be painted after drying or curing. (Air-dry clays *require* painting or sealing once dry with something permanent... polymer clays don't.)
