Question: Can you give me some ideas for hobbies?
(Posted by: Emma on 2010-03-02 12:55:09)
I have GCSE study leave coming up soon and it leaves me with a lot of free time at the end running into the holidays, I get bored easily so I need a hobby or project. I like creative stuff where you end up with "something " at the end but not knitting or any sort of needlework and not scrap- booking, preferably something 3D (not sure why I just like having something more tactile) I am perfectly willing to spend money on things I need but would prefer not to have to buy TOO many specialist tools or materials, I already have brushes, paints, general toolbox stuff etc. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! |

Jigsaw puzzles are challenging and they come in many types and sizes. After you put the puzzle together you can use puzzle saver to mount and frame it. They make beautiful Christmas gifts. |

Knit or crochet. Crochet Amigurumi dolls, hats, scarves, etc. Knit almost anything. These are not just for old grannies and are not as boring as they seem. I crochet and sell my wares to friends. it can put a good sum back into your pocket and is well worth the half hour that projects usually take to finish. Look on youtube for tips and how to learn these arts. |

You only need some paper squares to get started with Origami. 1: A good starting point: origami-resource-center.com/ modular.html - loads of diagrams, background info,links 2: Modular Origami instructions: images.google.com/ images?hl= en &source= hp &q= modular+ origami+ diagrams &gbv= 2 &aq= 0 &oq= modular+ origami &aqi= g3 3: cedison.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 03/ 12/ more-modular-madness/ - lots of links in the right column. 4: origamitessellations.com/ 2005/ 12/ 27/ more-open-source-origami-from-origamioschenecom/ - another page with many models 5: origamitoronto.org/ diagrams.html - few but interesting models, including a mountainbike. 6: flickr.com/ photos/ origomi/ 14320188/ - The Yahoo photo site Flickr has many active Origami enthusiasts who believe in sharing their work and often post diagrams and/ or link to them. Eric Gjerde who created this beautiful star offers a downloadable PDF. YouTube has many instructional videos about Origami, these are just a few: 7: youtube.com/ watch?v= 0ORfFjxf_Rk - Origami Fireworks 8: youtube.com/ watch?v= dXLhjYgMZ68 - book 9: youtube.com/ watch?v= RhVV-IfB80k - bookcase |
