Does anyone have craft or recycle ideas for costume, vintage jewelry, rhinestones, beads, crystals, etc?
Do ring blanks make people think "cheap" jewelry?
I have been playing around with different jewelry mediums for quite awhile and have finally settled on my niche I am beginning to sell the rings I hand make. Everyone seems to love them but I want to jump out of my box and begin selling online. It seems most people use silver plated ring blanks for the bases of their artwork. Which I think is great because they are also adjustable. However, I am wondering if these cheapen the ring or the lifespan of the ring or not? I'm not trying to offend anyone I don t want to understate them with something if it will not last or seems cheap. I typically like to use the best of the best in materials but with my new designs if I use solid silver bands they will obviously cause the price to go up. My items are not gallery " type" but something for the everyday wear. I guess my question is this, is it more difficult to sell rings with plated ring blanks or solid silver? Also, how do you determine when the quality or price of your materials will cause you to out price yourself when selling? I may have rambled please let me know if I need to be more clear.Thanks,Rai
I want to start making jewelry, the amethyst I bought to work with looks dull...?
I'm new at this and don't know much of anything about beading or jewelry making yet, just one wiring class at a local bead store. When I see semi precious stones in other people's handmade jewelry, the stones are almost always polished looking. I bought a strand of tiny amethyst stones & various other pieces the other day to start experimenting with. But I noticed that the amethyst looks dull. I never see dull looking stones like that on etsy jewelry or at craft festivals. There must be a way to polish or shine it up? Hopefully a way that doesn't require buying even more loads of expensive tools & materials, lol.How can I polish shine semi precious stones? Can I just buy some kind of special liquid solution to rub onto the stone with a cloth to polish it? If so, is there also a special cloth I should use, or is any fabric fine to use? Homemade jewelry question about supplies?
I have been asked so much about my homemade jewelry that I have decided to make about 50 pieces and put it on etsy? We'll see how it goes. The thing is I get my beads from Michael's, JoAnn's or A.C.Moore and it cost damn near 40 plus bucks to make one decent piece of jewelry. Where can I go online for cheaper yet just as nice beads? It was fine when I wanted something original to wear to an event but trying to supply enough jewelry to create a " line" if you will is not going to happen with one piece of jewelry costing about 40 bucks to make. I gotta find something better. Please help me.

What is the best wire/ string for jewelry making?
whenever I make jewellry, and i've made qutie a bit, the string always breaks, or the knots come undone, because the string is too thick, too thin, whatever. And wire never turns out right and always stabs into my skin so i can't even wear the jewelry. Any and all suggestions are helpful
Can I engrave a metal washer with dremel tool to make jewelry?
I have seen all the metal stamped washer jewelry and love it. I am wondering if i can get the same look by using a handheld dremel tool? I have one already and am wondering if anyone else has tried it. Any suggestions? Beaded jewelry patterns or ideas?
I love to make jewelry and am planning on selling some. If i have materials and good direction I can make anything. Does anyone have any patterns for any size seed e bead not sure what I have ? I have looked everywhere can on google and continue to see the same things. I have the following things different colored glass beads, ebeads seed beads, faceted beads, bugle beads, beading wire,ribbon to put beads with larger holes on, all the tools I need, and jewelry findings. Tools for Jewelry Making?
Exactly what tools are needed for Jewelry making? I joined a local group of women who make their own custom jewelry using semi precious stones and beads. I am not sure what all I need to buy in order to make jewelry. Can anyone tell me exactly what it is that I need?
